Burns & McDonnell Assistant Interior Designer/Space Planner - Aviation & Federal (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Description The Assistant Interior Designer/Space Planner will assist with preparing designs, editing specifications, and preparing conceptual estimates for interior work, repair, and/or renovation of government, airport, and commercial related facilities.
Assists in preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for interiors of aviation and/or federal facilities.
Performs interior design assignments to meet project deliverables.
Assists in compiling data, provides elementary design computations, assist with preparation of internal design plans and renderings.
Assists with furniture purchasing and reconfiguration.
Assists in researching interior design products to make recommendations to the manager.
Assists with color, finish, and material research and selection.
Assists with recommending new ideas, formulas and methods.
Assists in construction administration activities through site visits and review of payment applications.
Assists with maintaining conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Interior Design or similar field Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge in AutoCAD & Microstation.
Experience with BIM-Revit, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
Basic knowledge in Interior Design specifications, calculations, industry standards as well as visual, written and oral skills.
Working knowledge in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations and 3-D visual simulations.
Basic understanding of architectural principles and theory associated with project design and construction document production.
Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Valid driver's license Required
