Juneau School District *Interim* Activities and Community Schools Coordinator (JobID:9116) in Juneau, Alaska

Location: Districtwide Position: Full Time (1.0 FTE) This position is being posted toJSAA and thePublicsimultaneously.

SUMMARY: Under direction of the Superintendent or designee, and with minimal supervision, this administrative position is responsible for management and evaluation of districtwide Activities programs. In collaboration with the site principal or designee, the Activities Coordinator will hire, oversee and evaluate coaches, advisors and certified staff to assure proper management of all related athletics and activities spending, including; fundraising, CBJ allocations and booster accounts. This position will coordinate on-site activities staff to assure students' eligibility, travel and to set up for competitions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in education and an administrative certificate; relevant work experience may be substituted for schooling.
  • Valid Alaska Type B certificate or the ability to obtain a Type B within two years of hire
  • Demonstrated experience in program management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people
  • Valid drivers license required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful experience managing secondary school activities
  • Coaching experience, degree in sports management or related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Flexibility in scheduling work hours and requesting schedule changes from supervisor
  • Able to cooperate with and manage various diverse groups

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the activities and athletics budget.
  • Responsibility to manage overall scheduling of activities and athletics for high school including; competitions and practice schedules, officiant duties, site contest supervisors, and facility reservations.
  • Responsibility to collaborate in-building with high school administrators and activities and athletics staff, in-district coordinating mutual events with other district high schools as well as act as the JSD athletics liaison to the community.
  • Serving as the District's liaison to the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) Region 5 Board.
  • Managing annual student interest surveys.
  • Hiring coaches and advisors, track ASAA coach training requirements. Facilitate coaches meetings 3x/year.
  • Oversight of events in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Monitoring and complying with Title IX requirements.
  • Maintaining standards set forth by board policy and state regulations.

COMPENSATION: This is an interim 215-day contract for the 2024-2025 school year with possibility of permanent placement: salary placement on the JSAA salary schedule Range G $103,435- $132,488 dependent on experience requiring a Type B certificate.
