Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic in Florida is searching for a highly motivated, academic neuro-oncologist to join a rapidly expanding Brain Tumor Program in Jacksonville. Over the last 5 years, the Program has seen a 3-fold increase in clinical volume and added eleven additional faculty with specialty interests directly related to brain tumor research and clinical care, including in neurosurgery, neuropathology, radiation oncology, neuropsychology, neuroradiology, and neuro-oncology, and we are now looking to expand further. The Brain Tumor Program at Mayo Clinic Florida is closely integrated with corresponding brain tumor programs at Mayo Clinic Rochester and Mayo Clinic Arizona. Examples of this integration include participation in Mayo Clinic-wide brain tumor clinical trials, which is facilitated by the Mayo Clinic’s designation as the organizing center for the U19 Glioma Therapeutics Network (NCI); joint research and clinical conferences; and leadership in U54, P01 and P50 multi-institutional and multi-investigator awards. Mayo Clinic is a Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center by NCI including participation in NCI cooperative group studies. Ample opportunities for clinical and translational research are available through highly collaborative basic and translational science departments, and this will be enhanced further with the planned acquisition of both proton beam and heavy particle beam facilities in the next several years.
The successful applicant will contribute to the clinical care of brain tumor and cancer neurology patients, to the teaching of students, residents, and fellows, and to the development of clinical trials in neuro-oncology, including studies based on translational research within the Mayo Clinic enterprise. The applicant should be ABPN Board certified or eligible in Neurology and qualified for a Florida Medical license. UCNS board eligibility in Neuro-Oncology is strongly encouraged.
Interested applicants should submit their CV and a list of three references. If you have questions about the position, please contact:
