Consumers Energy Accounting Specialist in JACKSON, Michigan

Location:

This is an hourly position is preferred assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The candidate must be within a daily commutable distance for the location or willing to relocate.

We are looking for: Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist works across multiple areas of accounting to ensure compliance with financial transaction recording standards (e.g., general ledger, cash payments/collections, tax transactions, etc.). They will control/reconciliation of accounts and records (balance sheet, P&L, bank accounts, etc.). This includes administrative/transactional accounting support work, such as ledger maintenance and data entry. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing various accounting controls, including key SOX controls. They will compile audit documentation and work with confidential information in a regulated utility industry.

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for working in Validation, vendor reconciliations, including Sworn Statements, working with external and internal teams to problem solve, and reconcile accounts. They will provide back up for vendor payment processing, cash clearings and vendor payment reconciliations. This position requires a high level of customer service while maintaining vendor records and reconciliations in accordance with SOX controls.

The knowledge and skills involved with this position include but are not limited to:

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, SAP or similar ERP system, etc.). Ability and aptitude to learn and adapt to new computer tools and software

  • Proficientproblemsolving,analytical,andtroubleshootingskills

  • Abletoorganizeandprioritizeworktasksandmeetdeadlines

  • Able to be proactive and demonstrate ownership of tasks

  • Able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field with two (2) or more years of experience working with financial information, Invoicing, Accounts Receivables, Payment, and/or banking as well as experience analyzing and reconciling various types of accounts and working with large data sets using computer software

  • [OR] High School Diploma with six (6) of experience working with financial information, Invoicing, Accounts Receivables, Payment, and/or banking as well as experience analyzing and reconciling various types of accounts and working with large data sets using computer software

In this role, you will :

  • Performs / supports monthly G/L account reconciliation for assigned accounts
