Tompkins Community Bank Collateral and Construction Administrator in Ithaca, New York

Overview

This position location is flexible to work any of our offices in Ithaca, NY, or, Batavia, NY, or Brewster, NY or Wyomissing, PA. Selected candidate must be able to work in the office two (2) days a week.

The Commercial Construction Administrator is responsible for the Bank’s risk management practices regarding construction lending. The position oversees lending advances and project status for construction lending projects in all of the Bank’s markets. This position is primarily responsible for reviewing construction advance requests and coordinating communication among stakeholders. The position is also responsible for conducting onsite inspections and evaluations. Expected to monitor and administer the Bank’s construction loan portfolio. Performs appraisal reviews and administers monitored credit facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite inspections and evaluations, document files for the purpose of supplementing existing appraisals and independent evaluations on CRE loans, including classified loans.

  • Monitor and administer construction loan portfolio.

  • Monitor borrower’s required investment into the project, funds required to complete, and cost overruns.

  • Review outside inspections, lien waivers, and advances.

  • Review and approve construction draw requests.

  • Support the preparation of a monthly report on our Construction and Development Loans, indicating the current progress and noting any issues.

  • Proactively review construction projects from initial stages through completion, surfacing elevated risks and/or deviations from the Bank’s risk appetite and procedures, managing these situations with the appropriate Sales and Credit staff to a resolution.

  • In coordination with the department manager, develop best practices and support implementation into Tompkins’ workflows.

  • Occasionally perform independent property appraisal reviews.

  • As needed, support the administration and reporting of monitoring lines of credit and other collateral dependent borrowing facilities.

  • Periodically report on Market conditions and notable trends.

  • Provide support as needed for our lending staff on new CRE loan requests.

  • Assist in management of our overall CRE portfolio.

  • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements; ensure that the unit and all personnel adhere to the same.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; and/or specialized commercial construction lending education and training.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in related positions is required.

  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.

  • A thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all financial services provided by the Company.

  • A working knowledge of operating policies and procedures which impact client services.

  • Occasional site visits and inspections within the Market footprint.

Pay Range

USD $65,500.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
