We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join our Data and Innovation Center of Excellence (CoE) at WCIB. The ideal candidate will be laser-focused on data management on the Microsoft Azure cloud data platform. This role requires a strong technical, strategic, and hands-on individual who can collaborate with product and engineering teams to design, build, and deploy data products on the cloud. The candidate will also work closely with the data governance team to ensure compliance with the bank's data governance policies and effectively share data products across the enterprise with proper controls in place. Additionally, they will work with the data engineering teams to ensure that data products are scalable and efficient.

Responsibilities:

  • Align business objectives and strategic opportunities with overall data strategy.

  • Define an effective migration strategy from first-generation on-premises data platforms to third generation cloud ready solutions on Azure.

  • Define and deploy data and analytics best practices, including guidelines for tailoring analytics methodologies for specific business needs.

  • Prioritize work streams based on conflicting business opportunities and people, process and technology landscape in the organization.

  • Participate as one of the key members along with key business stakeholders and data stewards to define an effective strategy around data governance and data management solution across WCIB.

  • Provide input on the strategic direction of technology investments with respect to data initiatives to execute leadership and maximize the return of investment on them.

  • Partner with senior development managers across multiple technology delivery groups within WCIB and ensure horizontal concerns such as governance, security and cloud controls are in alignment with technology tenants of the organization.

  • Partner with cloud, security architects and data engineers to implement cutting edge but pragmatic solutions that will enable business outcomes using a combination of deep technical skills, business acumen and strong interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in data management and cloud computing

Required Skills

  • Experience in building complex data processing frameworks and workflows in large enterprises.

  • Operational and hands on experience with third party GUI data processing tools such as SSIS, Informatica, ADF, AWS Glue etc..

  • Understanding of big data processing tools such as Apace spark.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure Data Platform technologies, including: Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Catalog, Purview, Azure Machine Learning & Stream Analytics

  • Understanding of middleware technologies such as kafka , Message oriented middleware technologies such as MQ, AWS SQS, RabbitMQ

  • Strong experience around API integration and understand how various API types such as REST, SOAP, GraphQL and gRPC work.

  • Solid understanding of security concepts around IAM, RBAC, OAuth, mTLS , TLS and JWT

  • Proficiency around web access management tools such as Ping Federate, Okta and other SAML providers with respect to federated SSO across enterprises.

  • Hands on experience around integration with API gateways

  • Experience in implementing self-service business intelligence solutions leveraging tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SSRS etc.

  • Strong technical skills, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience.

  • In-depth understanding of data governance and compliance requirements.

  • Proven hands-on experience in building and deploying data products on cloud platforms.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00 - $172,590.00
