What is the role?

Michaels Energy is seeking an energy efficiency professional for the Solutions Analyst role. This position supports the company’s strategic planning and sales efforts through utility and market research and analysis and the development of technical content for proposals and marketing initiatives. We are looking for someone who will live our company values, thrive in a team environment, has a knack for research and the ability to interpret data.

Market and Regulatory Research

  • Review utility program plans, reports, and filings to inform proposal strategy and aid in business planning

  • Maintain a record system of program cycles, utility filings, and evaluation reports for quick reference

  • Research and understand technical topics within the energy efficiency industry, including energy management systems, thermal energy storage, decarbonization technologies, distributed energy resources, and grid-interactive buildings

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory policies and legislation related to utility energy efficiency/demand response programs within desired markets

  • Develop market intelligence reports that provide insights into market trends and competitor offerings

  • Periodically engage with stakeholders at energy policy forums, conferences, and/or industry committees/associations

Technical Content Development

  • Assist with content development for proposals such as the program design/approach, scope, and cost estimates.

  • Translate technical information into clear and compelling language suitable for diverse audiences, ensuring accuracy and credibility

  • Assist the marketing team with developing written content like articles, blog posts, whitepapers, or case studies that effectively communicate key messages and promote our products and services

Collaboration

  • Participate in content planning and RFP strategy meetings, offering insights from research and filings

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the company to gather feedback on technical approaches and historical performance that supports a compelling proposal win narrative

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align market and regulatory insights with business objectives

How do you contribute?

After three months, you will have….

  • Learned Michaels internal processes, business practices, current services and capabilities

  • Created a framework for program cycle, utility filings and evaluation reports

  • Developed a process for conducting regulatory research

After six months, you will have….

  • Develop and deliver market intelligence reports

  • Assisted with technical development for proposals

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.

  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.

  • At least three years of experience combining any of the following:

  • Energy efficiency industry

  • Utility programs

  • Program evaluations

  • Proven experience as a technical writer, analyst, or similar role, preferably in the energy efficiency or sustainability sector.

  • Advanced MS Office suite and other relevant software applications.

  • Awareness of current trends and future developments in the energy sector.

  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear and engaging content for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
