Housing Assistance Corp. Director of Community Engagement in Hyannis, Massachusetts

Housing Assistance is seeking a dynamic & passionate Director of Community Engagement to join our team. This role will develop & implement strategies to engage residents & stakeholders, build relationships with local organizations, & represent Housing Assistance at various events. They will manage & grow our volunteer program, including recruitment, training, & retention, & coordinate large-scale volunteer activities. The role also involves supporting housing advocacy efforts, including educational training & organizing outreach for town meetings. Essential Functions Community Engagement Develop & implement community engagement strategies to involve residents, stakeholders, & potential beneficiaries in Housing Assistance?s mission & programs. Establish & cultivate relationships with local community groups, nonprofits, & grassroots organizations to build support & exp& the organization\'s outreach. Represent the organization at community events, meetings, & conferences, promoting awareness of our mission, services & opportunities for engagement. Actively identify & recruit individuals to serve as volunteers at Housing Assistance & to engage with our housing advocacy efforts. Collaborate with the marketing & communications team to develop & implement strategies for engaging the community through various channels, including social media, newsletters, & public speaking engagements. Volunteer Management Direct, manage & grow Housing Assistance?s volunteer program. Oversee & coordinate volunteer lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, engagement, retention/post engagement & reporting. Collaborate with Housing Assistance staff to create meaningful volunteer opportunities across the organization. Plan & manage large scale volunteer activities including Big Fix events throughout the year. Implement recognition programs to appreciate & retain volunteers, such as awards, events, & thank-you notes. Conduct regular evaluations to gather feedback & improve the volunteer experience. Housing Advocacy Coordinate & manage regular schedule of educational training for residents on how to advocate & speak up for housing in their town. Coordinate & support advocacy outreach & organizing efforts leading up to town meetings in the fall & spring. Stay updated on local housing policies, regulations, & best practices to inform the agency\'s advocacy efforts. General Responsibilities: Attend Board meetings as requested, serve on pertinent committees & participate in community & social events that promote Housing Assistance & cultivate relationships. Establish & maintain positive working relationships with CEO\'s Staff, other administrators & staff. Complete duties & responsibilities in compliance with Housing Assistance Corp standards, policies & guidelines. Liaise with other departments. Required Qualifications, Education, & Experience Bachelor\'s degree in communications, public relations, community development or a related field. Proven experience (5+ years) in community engagement, volunteer management, or a similar role within a nonprofit organization. Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage & collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking & presentation skills. Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail. Skilled at coordinating events & meetings. Demonstrated experience in organizing, conceptualizing, & prioritizing objectives & managing a high-volume workflow office. Proficiency with use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, & presentation software & use of the Internet. Preferred Qualifications Experience in community organizing, facilitation, & engagement strategies. Understanding of affordable housing programs & community development principles. Knowledge of local government processes, policies, & decision-making structures.
