Title: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Location: Herndon, VA
We are seeking a motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have experience in software engineering, systems administration, and operations. As an SRE, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, reliable systems, and ensuring the operational health of our infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Observability
Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Prometheus for time-series data collection.
Create and manage visual dashboards utilizing Grafana or Splunk to provide actionable insights into system performance.
Automation and Configuration Management
Utilize Kubernetes for container orchestration to manage microservices effectively.
Employ Helm for application deployment automation and management within Kubernetes environments.
Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure Management
Design and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS , ensuring efficient utilization of compute, storage, and networking resources.
Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters on both cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
CI/CD and Deployment
Automate build and deployment processes using Jenkins and GitLab CI for continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.
Databases and Caching
Manage and optimize relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL for structured data storage.
Work with distributed databases like Cassandra and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB for unstructured data.
Utilize Redis for in-memory data caching to enhance application performance.
Version Control
Manage code repositories and collaborate with the development team using GitLab .
Load Balancers & Reverse Proxies
Implement high-performance load balancing solutions using HAProxy and Nginx for web service availability and reliability.
Collaboration & Documentation
Document processes and share knowledge using Confluence .
Track incidents and manage projects effectively within Jira .
Scripting & Programming Languages
Develop automation scripts using Bash/Shell scripting and Python to streamline operations and enhance system reliability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the tools and technologies listed above.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
