Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Network Technician Intern to be based in Hunt Valley, MD office.

This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

The Network Technician Intern will support AECOM’s Technology Solutions’ Networks Team. Technician will be responsible for supporting various aspects of the Technology Solutions Group with a focus on networking. Technologies that may be part of the job include local area networks, passive optical LAN, cyber security, WiFi, distributed antenna systems and server administration. Technician will work under the direction of project managers and/or consultants in supporting the review, design and configuration of technology systems.

This is a part-time or full-time intern position. Hours are flexible to student availability. This is a position working primarily from the Hunt Valley, MD office and local client locations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Installing equipment and cabling at client facilities, phone and remote support, web site design, schedule coordination, testing in a lab environment, burn-in of networking gear, receiving shipments and organizing equipment in the Hunt Valley, MD office.

  • Experimentation with new technologies, and formal/on-the-job training.

  • Work with senior team members to troubleshooting basic network connectivity issues.

  • Responsible for the physical installation of network components.

  • Receive and ship materials, verifying packing lists, stocking storage shelves.

  • Maintain internal and customer-facing web sites.

  • Configure and test network equipment under direction of network engineers and consultants.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or major and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate hands-on or academic experience in technology-related field of study.

  • Ability to lift equipment and install in rack as well as climb a ladder.

  • Working experience is a plus but not necessary.

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and possess analytic and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • This position regularly reports to the Hunt Valley, MD office.

  • Travel to client locations (mostly within the U.S.) may be needed occasionally.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $16.00/hour - $22.00/hour.
