SCOPE OF POSITION :

The Production Supervisor leads and gives direction to workers assigned to a specific area of production. The objectives for this position are to ensure a safe working environment and to act as coach and facilitator to the group. The Production Supervisor is responsible for continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality according to customer requirements.

  • Assigns and directs workers in production group with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production, and meeting production goals and delivery dates.

  • Responsible for providing a safe environment for workers and for proactively facilitating and inspiring an active culture of safety among their team.

  • Maintains compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping

  • Actively engages in regular communication with reports on subjects including, but not limited to, coaching, career progress, company and department news and objectives, corrective discussions and actions.

  • Ensure delivery of KPIs including day to day service levels, customer experience, quality measures and monitoring of throughput.

  • Responsible for training of work group and assists in identifying training needs

  • Regularly performs work of the type supervised

  • Encourages efficient utilization of equipment and facilities. Ensures that work group has necessary resources to complete requirements. Works with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot machines and resolve production and/or quality issues.

  • Achieves maximum efficiency and productivity of group personnel.

  • Works with the team to establish and effectively communicate production goals and work schedules.

  • Confers with Site Operations Manager and/or Production Manager and works with the group in establishment of production goals and work schedules. Updates work group on information pertinent to the successful delivery of the order

  • Coordinates flow of work within or between departments to expedite production. Reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and materials in order to meet customer demands.

  • Reviews schedules to establish sequence and lead times of each operation and department to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders. Reviews production specifications and plant capacity data.

  • Partners with supply chain to ensure appropriate flow of materials.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.

  • Processes performance evaluations of all direct reports

  • Assists in the recruiting and hiring process, including orientation, onboarding, and training of new employees

  • Collaborate with Engineering to bring new products from concept, to pilot, to full production and launch.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION : (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Associate degree in Business, Production Management, or similar. plus 3 years management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 or more years manufacturing experience, at least one year in a people-leadership role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and discipline
