Responsibilities

The Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of technicians while handling the day to day operations of the lab or area(s) of responsibility. The lab supervisor will work the assigned team to setup, assemble, and run test programs for various oilfield completion tools to meet test qualifications outlined by industry standard or engineering team. Maintain testing equipment through scheduled maintenance and keep lab and testing areas clean. Provide support for the engineering teams as needed to meet their testing goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Know and understand Weatherford's enterprise excellence program and the quality policy and comply with all requirements of the quality systems manual, operating and technical procedures, and workplace instructions.

  • Maintain testing schedule for assigned test assets, tracking utilization of assets, and ensuring the documentation of maintenance performed on test assets and equipment.

  • Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford. Ensure that the team is using best practices and complying with all company policies.

  • Develop and implement new processes to improve team and lab efficiency.

  • Train new and less-experienced staff in tool/equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Ensure team maintaining equipment in good working order.

  • Develop, perform, and maintain inventory of test parts and equipment.

  • Oversee operation of test equipment (Triplex Pump, Centrifugal Pumps, Flow Systems, Nitrogen Boosters, Hydraulic Pumps, Forced-Air High-Temp Heater Systems, Manual and Pneumatic Valves, etc.).

  • Provide technical support to the Engineering staff in regards to testing questions/needs.

  • Clean up test facility and test equipment as required.

  • Carry out work assignments to the highest quality level.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in Oilfield or HPHT Lab environments.

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience operating material handling equipment (Forklift, Overhead Hoist, etc.).

  • Experience using hand tools (Pipe Wrench, Adjustable Wrench, Screwdriver, Measuring Tape, etc.).

    Preferred:

  • Experience in High Pressure, High Temperature testing.

  • Experience with oilfield completions tool assembly and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with High Pressure testing equipment (pressure systems, fittings, pumps, etc.).

  • Experience with digital Data Acquisition Systems.

  • Experience with Flow Equipment (Triplex Pumps, Centrifugal Pumps, Flow Systems, etc.).

  • Experience with High Temperature heating systems.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Required:

  • Advanced computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.

  • Proficient in scheduling and time management.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.

  • Ability to follow oral instructions.

  • Ability to physically respond to emergency situations.

  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings/prints and tool layouts.

  • Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one or more product lines (Packers, Liner Hanger Systems, Safety Valves, Cementing, etc.).

  • SME with High Pressure Equipment (Tubing, Fittings, Pressure gauges, etc.).

  • SME in assembling test oilfield tools.

  • Ability to use basic measuring tools (Micrometers, Callipers, etc.).

    Preferred:

  • SME with High Pressure, High Temperature testing.

  • SME in advanced troubleshooting of oilfield tools and pressure systems.

  • SME in data acquisition equipment (Thermocouples, Pressure Transducers, Linear Transducers, Flow Meters, etc.).

  • Advanced experience with all assets tested at SRO test facility.

  • Advanced experience with all product lines tested at SRO facility.
