CO2/DDL Field Service Technician (Multiple position)

Hoffman Estates IL – Onsite (100% Travel)

6+ month contract with high potential for extension and can convert to permanent.

Pay range: $30 - $36/hr on W2

Job Description:

Travel Requirement:

100% travel Monday through Friday

Candidates must be comfortable with this travel schedule

Contractor will use their own credit card for expenses

Basic Function: Perform a variety of field service work including:

  • Machine operations

  • Maintenance training

  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

  • Machine repair and modifications

  • Programming

  • Preventative maintenance

  • TAC support under limited supervision

  • Problem-Solving/Know-How:

  • Associate's degree in Laser/Electro/Optics or equivalent required

  • Two or more years of related experience, including troubleshooting

  • Functional PC and appropriate software skills required

  • Ability to use hand tools, meters, gauges, schematics, and jigs for machine calibration and performance

  • Ability to travel extensively (95%), primarily within the United States, with possible travel to Mexico, Canada, and Japan on short notice

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Strong attention to detail, meeting deadlines and commitments

  • Strong diagnostics and technical aptitude, including knowledge of AC & DC electrical, mechanical, and optical systems

Accountabilities:

Service Support:

  • Carry out technical assignments to install, modify, and repair factory automation equipment at customer sites, with 100% travel weekly

  • Maintain a safe work environment and report any issues that arise

  • Operate and program machines, understanding all technical aspects and machine parameter functions

  • Prepare standard equipment documentation and reports, including service reports and expense reports

  • Provide customers with timely and accurate technical information in a positive and straightforward manner

  • Provide equipment operation and maintenance training to customers' employees and fellow field service technicians

  • Prepare and submit documentation for efficient invoicing

  • Maintain company property for safe operation and maximum life

  • Efficiently manage business expenses to maximize profitability

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and assist in establishing preventative maintenance schedules with customers and service coordinator

  • Have or obtain a passport

  • Have or obtain and maintain a clean driver’s license

  • Travel includes North America with air travel
