Responsibilities

Knowledge of medical record filing systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to fill and maintain patient records, files, reports, and other correspondence. Responsible for maintaining the office schedules and diagnostic testing schedules. Compiles patient information and updates as changes occur. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typing skills. Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.

  • Pulls charts for scheduled appointments in advance.

  • Delivers, transports, sorts, and files returned charts.

  • Continually checks for misfiled charts and refiles according to filing system.

  • Files all medical reports. Purges obsolete records and files in storage.

  • Works with medical assistants and other staff to route patient charts to proper location.

  • Assists with answering telephone, taking messages, and giving routine information in accordance with established procedures as needed.

  • Follows medical records policies and procedures.

  • Assists with processing insurance claims.

  • Assists with processing insurance claims.

  • Develops and maintains smooth, cooperative working relationships with others.

  • Positive interaction with customers, (i.e., patients, visitors, vendors, and team members.

  • Deals effectively with stressful situations.

  • Keeps informed about practices, procedures, and new developments related to own work.

  • Is flexible: copes successfully with a variety of situations, personalities, and the changing work environment.

  • Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned.

  • Performs other work as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Pay Range

$15.00 - $18.48 /hour
