Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Powder

Job Description

This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment associated with powder milling to align with project schedules and company goals. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience operating and maintaining complex mechanical systems, meticulous record-keeping ability, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate powder production equipment, including ball mills, gloveboxes, vacuum systems, and liquid nitrogen processes.

  • Work closely with scientists, engineers, and management to develop novel formulations and produce materials aligned with project goals.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of process data to support workflows.

  • Communicate effectively with engineering and management to ensure smooth scheduling and delivery.

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, mitigating risks associated with metal powders, flammable materials, and liquid nitrogen.

  • Perform regular maintenance and cleanouts of equipment for optimal and safe operation.

  • Assist in the development of consolidation, milling, and manufacturing processes by preparing materials for testing, assembling components, and supporting welding and machining operations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining machinery (i.e., CNC lathes, mills, turbines, engines, etc.)

  • Experience in preventive maintenance and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to lift and manipulate 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work with computers and operating software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Willingness to support operations outside standard duties when needed.

Work Environment

You will be working in a well-equipped facility with advanced technologies such as ball mills, gloveboxes, vacuum systems, and liquid nitrogen processes. The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and adhering to strict safety protocols. The work hours and shifts are structured to ensure project goals are met efficiently, with occasional support needed outside standard duties.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr.
