This position may be covered by a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA) *JOB DUTIES: The Compliance Specialist’s overall purpose is to work closely with all stakeholders in the Montana workers’ compensation system to ensure timely and accurate reporting requirements are met based on statutory and administrative requirements, constantly looking for innovated ideas to improve the process and quality of the data. Works independently or in a team environment administering and monitoring multiple projects to ensure compliance using their technical expertise in the areas of workers’ compensation policy, Montana statutes, administrative rules, claim administrator reporting, claim & injury reporting and electronic data interchange. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES: If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities: * Knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and methods of the workers’ compensation system * Knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and methods of Project Management * Knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and methods of Electronic Data Interchange * Excellent negotiation skills, consisting of ability to establish rapport with the parties; Ability to identify, articulate, and differentiate between wants and needs; Ability to listen carefully, identify common ground between all the parties; Ability to influence by tactfully challenging the positions of the parties and handling objections; Ability to persuade the parties using reasoned argument in a logical, calm, and assertive manner. * Ability to lead projects independently to successful completion, delivery of timely results, handle multiple assignments simultaneously * Considerable ability to interpret and communicate legal statutes, rules, regulations, and court decisions. Ability to apply this knowledge to benefit issues, assess situations and impacts and find unique reasonable and equitable solutions or recommendation to resolve benefit disputes between claimants and insurers. Ability to write clearly and concisely in simple comprehensive language. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, employers, Division personnel, other agencies, insurers, adjusters, claimants, attorneys, and medical providers. * Leadership skills and ability to Lead a team that works on multiple projects simultaneously as well as balance day to day operational assignments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including: * Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, mathematics statistics, information technology or a related field and two years of directly related experience in project management, research, statistical analysis, or related activities. OR * Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered. /Preferred:/ * Two years’ experience in workers’ compensation or related capacity. * Two years management/supervisory experience. * Electronic Data Exchange experience.
