DESCRIPTION OF WORK This represents a trainee position for a care manager in the protective services unit.  The worker will be responsible for learning the complex procedures and policies involved in the program(s) provided by Pike Co. AAA in order to provide care management services for seniors, 60 years of age and older in need of protective services. During this time, the care manager is expected to gain experience in performing assessments regarding the functional needs of individuals and investigations involving abuse, neglect, exploitation, and abandonment of older adults. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the principles and methods of social casework, knowledge of current social, economic, and health issues that impact the aging population, and the knowledge of individual and group behavior. Responsibilities will include planning and organizing work, applying critical thinking skills to identify and resolve problems, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. On call rotation required. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years as an Aging Case Aide 2; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) credits in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Pike County.
