Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
Properly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
Follow specific procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens for transport.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
Blood draw
Phlebotomy
Venipuncture
Pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy
Handling hard-sticks and heel sticks
Certified Phlebotomist
Experience with high draw volume
Newborn/pediatric draw experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Valid/active IL phlebotomy certification
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab, ambulatory setting, or hospital setting
Bilingual in Spanish (nice to have)
Work Environment
The shift will fall between 6am-8pm Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturdays (half day, 8am-12pm, except for one site with a full Saturday shift from 8am-4pm). The candidate should be open to working a few Saturdays per month. Mileage reimbursement included.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
