Greenwich Country Day School Server in Greenwich, Connecticut
The Greenwich Country Day School seeks to hire a Dining Hall Server to start in August 2024.
The GCDS Dining Hall team takes great pride in serving hundreds of students, faculty, and staff each day. The role of the Dining Hall Server is a key, front-of-house position, involving a high level of interaction with students, faculty, staff, and Dining Hall colleagues. We seek individuals who are excited to be an integral part of our "all hands on deck" culture and will foster positive interactions with all members of our school community. The successful candidate will be a punctual and reliable, hard-working, self-starter who takes pride in a job well done.
GCDS Dining Halls are self-operated. We do not contract with a food service company. We proudly prepare and provide restaurant-quality food with a focus on sustainability in all aspects of our food service operations. And we have a farm!
This is a part-time, 10-month/year position. Regular hours will be Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. All kitchen and dining room personnel must be available to work evening and/or weekend special events, as scheduled. Responsibilities Include:
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked station
Follow all safety protocols with regard to proper sanitizing and food allergies
Set up the dining area and deliver family-style meal service during multiple seatings each day
Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years experience in hotels, restaurants, and/or catering
Ability to lift 25-50+ pounds and stand for long stretches of time
Basic food knowledge
Friendly and outgoing disposition
Ability to work well with a team
Excellent attention to detail
Tireless work ethic
Willingness to offer and accept constructive criticism for the overall improvement of the team
Desire to improve and grow
Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions in English
Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints of a busy commercial kitchen
Cultural competency skills to collaborate across difference
