The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game department has a full-time vacancy for a Stewardship Coordinator

Summary:

To coordinate and implement acquisition, management, restoration and scientific study of Department lands within the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GBNERR). To represent coastal habitats and wildlife ecology as part of statewide initiatives in cooperation with other Department Divisions and partner agencies. To develop decision support tools, strategies, and outreach materials that enhance wildlife habitat and use of natural resource best management practices.

Responsibilities:

Oversees stewardship related activities on GBNERR lands in collaboration with NHFG biologists and other key personnel including boundary marking, invasive species removal, abutter relations, and ensuring NHFG and state rules and regulations are upheld and clearly communicated to constituents.

Develops and implements natural resource management, restoration, and monitoring plans for department lands within the boundary of the GBNERR in collaboration with NHFG biologists and other key personnel. Develops best management practice and restoration demonstration areas on Department lands.

Designs and conducts field study and geospatial research and monitoring activities to assess, monitor, and enhance decision making to promote the long term protection of healthy ecological systems. Pursues funding opportunities and administers grant funding in collaboration with the GBNERR manager.

Serves as the New Hampshire representative in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System Stewardship Coordinator Sector to develop and implement national and regional policies for stewardship activities.

Oversees GBNERR state and federal agency permit applications and advises on mitigation projects that impact Great Bay habitats and ecological systems.

Participates in the development of collaborative regional initiatives, such as the Wildlife Action Plan and Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership, to implement wildlife habitat enhancement on partner owned conservation lands.

Translates scientific data, provides technical assistance, and prepares and presents communication products to municipal officials, landowners, natural resource professionals, community members, and academic audiences to enhance knowledge and understanding of ecological systems, wildlife habitat, and land acquisition and restoration opportunities.

Oversees stewardship volunteer activities; supervises interns, contractors and seasonal, part time, and assistant stewardship staff.

Assists in the maintenance and oversight of GBNERR operations and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
