Salary Range: $30.96 - $39.51

Job Summary: We're seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team and oversee the maintenance, repairs, and operational needs of HVAC systems in our City-owned facilities. This multifaceted role involves preventative and demand maintenance, day-to-day repairs, and project management responsibilities. From boilers to control systems, cooling towers to pumps and blowers, you'll ensure our equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. Compliance with building codes, along with a keen understanding of facility users' needs, is essential. Additionally, you'll spearhead energy management initiatives, retrofitting systems for optimal efficiency and performing emergency repairs when needed. Experience, Knowledge, Skills: Minimum Requirements High School Diploma. Valid Drivers License. One (1) to three (3) years' experience as an HVAC Technician or similar role.

Preferred Certification or license in HVAC systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive Understanding of Complex Computer Programs: Proficiency in utilizing software such as Metasys and city works to manage and operate building automation systems (BAS) effectively. Thermal Dynamics and Mechanical Engineering Principles: A solid grasp of these principles to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment and mechanical systems efficiently. HVAC Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair: Ability to diagnose and fix various HVAC equipment, electrical circuits, and mechanical systems using a variety of tools and equipment. Project Management Experience: Previous experience managing preventive maintenance and repair projects for HVAC systems and related equipment, including assessing needs, preparing specifications and cost estimates, facilitating and inspecting work, and ensuring documentation is processed and completed. Proficiency with Tools and Equipment: Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment essential for HVAC maintenance, including manometer, flue gas analyzer, electrical meter, refrigerant gauges, vacuum pump, power tools, brazing and soldering torch, and hand tools. Preventative Maintenance Planning: Capability to develop, plan, and perform preventative maintenance for facility systems and equipment to ensure optimal functioning and longevity. Problem Analysis and Corrective Measures: Aptitude in analyzing operational and maintenance problems and implementing appropriate corrective measures to enhance system performance. Budgeting and Reporting Skills: Ability to identify maintenance and replacement needs for budgeting purposes and prepare written reports and correspondence, as well as accurately report project statuses and work requests using databases. Building Automation System (BAS) Management: Experience managing and operating BAS to monitor and control HVAC systems effectively. Inventory Management: Skill in maintaining an inventory of parts commonly used in equipment repair and replacement for efficient workflow. Emergency Repairs: Capability to perform emergency repairs on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical equipment during and after business hours to ensure continuous operation. General Maintenance and Care: Ability to care for tools and equipment, assist other division employees with maintenance activities, and maintain cleanliness in the workshop. On-call Availability: Willingness to participate in rotation on-call duties to address urgent maintenance issues outside of regular business hours.

Preventive Maintenance: Analyzing, planning, and performing preventive maintenance tasks on electrical circuits, fire alarms, carbon monoxide and natural gas detection systems, boilers, chillers, dx cooling, direct fire furnaces, radiant tube heaters, air handlers, humidifiers, automated gates, parking lot and street lights, pool pumps, heating and cooling pumps, pneumatic climate controls, low voltage climate controls, DDC climate controls, lighting controls, natural gas valves, natural gas regulators, natural gas piping, chilled water and hot water hydronic piping, chilled water and hot water hydronic valves, backflow preventors, damper actuators, and other mechanical equipment as needed. Seasonal Start-Up and Repair: Performing seasonal start-up and repair of mechanical equipment for heating, air conditioning, and pools, requiring knowledge of pumps, boilers, chillers, dx cooling, digital and pneumatic control Project Management: Managing projects related to replacing, repairing, and improving electrical circuits, fire alarms, carbon monoxide and natural gas detection systems, boilers, chillers, dx cooling, direct fire furnaces, radiant tube heaters, air handlers, humidifiers, automated gates, parking lot and street lights, pool pumps, heating and cooling pumps, pneumatic climate controls, low voltage climate controls, DDC climate controls, lighting controls, natural gas valves, natural gas regulators, natural gas piping, chilled water and hot water hydronic
