The City of Greeley Water & Sewer Division is looking to hire a T&D Seasonal Laborer with an interest in municipal water & sewer. Ideally, this position will start in June 2024 for a 6-month period, with the possibility of automatic rehire (seasonally). Career advancement opportunities exist.

This position reports to the Transmission & Distribution office in Greeley, Co

Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM-3:00PM

The Seasonal Laborer in the T&D division will be assisting with Fire Hydrant Maintenance and other related job duties.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. Current driver's license with good driving record. Preferred

Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, lawn mowing and sprinklers desired. Specialized training beyond high school normally gained in a program of less than 18 months duration preferred but not required. Basic painting skills. Basic hand tool skills. Ability to interpret maps, to understand location of work assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read and comprehend English and perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results. Ability to maintain a strong work ethic, positive problem-solving attitude, and enthusiasm for the work performed. Ability to self-start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and special projects. Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ages. Basic computer skills in order to enter timesheet information into Oracle and basic knowledge of Microsoft products. Customer service skills, including the ability to actively listen, address customer needs, defuse tense situations, and maintain an open, flexible, and friendly demeanor. Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal. Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly. Essential Functions:

Climbs a ladder or steps to reach jobs. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and general public. Follows established safety practices and procedures. Interprets information on a computer screen and follow sequence of repair information. Learns job-related skills through oral or written instruction. Measures distance using a tape measure or calibrated instruments. Reads information in English on a computer screen. Works flexible hours, including weekends. Supervisory Responsibilities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Work Environment

Exposure to all weather conditions. Exposure to various types of machinery noise, some levels to excess. Exposure to untreated water. Operate machinery such as a riding lawn mower, a tractor, or mower.

Physical Requirements

Bend and stoop repeatedly or continually over long periods of time. Lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Make precise arm-hand position movements and maintain static balance (i.e.: using wrenches, a hammer, saw or similar tools.) Make repetitive arm-hand movements. Manual labor, prolonged standing, kneeling, bending and walking, climbing ladders and stairs Manual dexterity enough to operate hand and power tools, move objects Move debris, dir , and other material from one location to another using a shovel, rake, or other hand tools. Move heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) a long distance (20 feet or more). Remains standing for long periods of time. Vision enough to perform above functions, read printed instructions. Work with small objects (placing washers on bolts).
