About Grand Junction Regional Center:
Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) exists to provide person-centered quality healthcare, activities of daily living, and an active learning atmosphere in a safe and healthy environment for intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) individuals and individuals who may have behavioral health needs in addition to IDD. This work unit provides 24-hour treatment services that comply with State and Federal regulations.
Description of Job
This Health Care Technician III is responsible for supporting the work unit supervisor to ensure the personal outcomes are achieved for people receiving services through the management of resources, management of resident records, and operation of the residential site. In addition, this position identifies emerging issues and works towards a resolution using resources within their scope of authority.
Additionally, as a Health Care Technician III, you can expect to:
Provide direction and oversee up to 14 staff
As work leader and role model, provide hands-on care and/or instruction in daily living activities for persons receiving services, such as bathing, eating and personal hygiene.
Ensure safety and personal outcomes are met as determined by Individual Plans.
Monitor and implement individualized supports and services for people. Respond to behavioral challenges as needed with implementation of specific behavior intervention programs (including Safety Control or Emergency Control).
This position must be annually certified for the skilled implementation of Safety Care.
Ensures compliance to schedules and training requirements and refers staff competency issues to supervisor.
Provide input for work performance for employee evaluation(s). Act as liaison between direct care staff and supervisor/ therapies.
Administers all treatments, medications and dietary orders as prescribed and supervises staff implementation of administering all medical orders.
Responds to emergency situations and assists medical staff with medical support and services. This would include preparing meals to prescribed diet consistencies as specified in the dietary planning menu.
Refine the physical condition of the living site by addressing safety concerns, making purchases, decorating living area and performing housekeeping duties. This includes assisting individuals with decorating their personal space. As assigned completes the quarterly Environmental Checks
Collect, complete, monitor, evaluate, and delegate administrative forms, reports and client records in order to achieve personal outcomes for persons served and ongoing licensure and certification.
Assist and monitoring with area budget. Completes these duties using prescribed electronic and hard copy procedures; utilizing computers and other supporting tools as needed to complete the duties.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
AND
- Two (2) years of experience in an occupational field related to working to the work assigned, such as working with a population with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Substitutions
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a
year-for-year basis
Special Qualifications
Must be QMAP trained or hold a valid LPT license

Conditions of Employment:
Full background check: CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers) and reference check required
Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver's License
Shift Work – GJRC is a 24/7 facility, must be available to work any shift, any day and/or any area, to meet the agency needs
Travel – Drive state car, van or bussette to various group homes, programming, admin & in community
TB test is required, requires Influenza and other vaccines as required by state and facility; must be 18 years or older.
Annual recertification is required for “CORE” skills including CPR, suctioning, transfers and lift use, wheelchair securement, Safety Care.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
