UNC Health Care Sr HR Data Analyst in Goldsboro, North Carolina

This position is located on-site in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Summary:

This position is responsible for providing analysis, quality, and accuracy of employee data. This role compiles reports, analyzes and synthesizes data in order to communicate key HR metrics, satisfy reporting requirements and to identify areas of concern or best practices for HR leadership to review in more detail. Ensures HR transactions and data updates are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with hospital policies. Serves as a point of contact for answering employee data transaction related questions. Responsible for independently administering HR data systems. Assists HR colleagues with the systems administration of compensation, benefits, talent acquisition and related programs. Develop, implement, maintain, and make recommendations for upgrades and system changes. Monitor and audit use of systems to ensure data integrity. Develop processes that optimize usability and reporting capabilities of the HR data systems. Provide support and training to end-users as needed. Assist Manager with upgrades to HR systems, ensures appropriate testing is completed, problems resolved, and HR initiatives are met according to established timetables. Responsible for procedural documentation and ongoing compliance related tasks within assigned functional area.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure teammate records and leadership transaction requests are acted upon accurately and in a timely manner. Process approved employment actions in HR systems (title changes, department transfers, promotions, salary adjustments, data changes etc.) and sends corresponding notification letters. Ensures all requests are in accordance with pre-defined policies/procedures. When necessary, confirm with leaders, colleagues, and teammates to verify changes before completing system actions.

  2. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of teammate data. Research and resolve complex data issues either independently or in coordination with system IT support resources.

  3. Maintain HR data in a secure and confidential manner. Use discretion when distributing information and reports to protect sensitive HR data.

  4. Review position descriptions for newly created, proposed, or updated positions to make system updates and changes to ensure job and position data integrity. Ensures all position descriptions are up to date, formatted appropriately and in compliance with all regulatory requirements (FLSA, etc.).

  5. Identifies and initiates appropriate actions to resolve deviations from the standard position classification structure and methodology.

  6. Responsible for maintaining and serving as initial point-of-contact for performance management system.

  7. Oversee the employee lifecycle from onboarding to termination to ensure that system workflows align with hospital policy and meet all regulatory compliance.

  8. Apply strong database management and Excel skills, including pivot table and advanced formulas (conditional, lookup, statistical, conversion, etc.) to merge, clean and analyze large amounts of data.

  9. Train colleagues within the HR department on system tools, efficiency, and optimization. Serve as subject matter expert for the organization for HR data systems.

  10. Develop, maintain, execute, and distribute standard and on-demand reports for a variety of audiences using HR data. Leverage system resources to create easy-to-understand metrics and dashboards. Analyze reports for trends to includes turnover, new hires and terminations and ensures appropriate audiences receive complete and accurate reports timely.

  11. Compiles data and prepare detailed reports for state and federal compliance (i.e., EEO annual report, State New Hire, Employment Security, etc.)

  12. Works with others in the organization to promote the use of data.

  13. Seeks feedback from leaders and teammates outside of HR to determine enhancements to reporting and works with leaders to include that feedback into planning for system and process improvements.

  14. Stays abreast of organizational and job changes to keep HRIS data current and accurate.

Education

• Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting or related field from an accredited college/university preferred.

• Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience may be considered.

Licensure/Certification

• None.

• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.

Experience

• Demonstrated prior experience with human resource and/or accounting systems and databases with emphasis on large and complex data structures is required.

• Prior experience as a functional member of an HR service team is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Expert level of computer proficiency in MS Excel (including pivot and lookup functions), Word, and PowerPoint.

• Possess technical aptitude, ability to troubleshoot across different HR platforms and the ability to learn new systems rapidly.

• Proficient knowledge of data system design and operation.

• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Valid NC Driver’s License: No

If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
