Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role within the accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Supervisor. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, self-driven, and committed to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines. This role requires a strong focus on expanding knowledge of systems, processes, and guidelines while striving for continuous self-improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile various balance sheets and income statement accounts.

  • Prepare internal financial statements.

  • Analyze budget variances and perform other necessary analyses.

  • Prepare quarterly forecasting reports.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and coordinate with external auditors.

  • Review various payroll packages.

  • Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by team members.

  • Report lease activity under ASC 842.

  • Maintain monthly close documentation.

  • Review processes and procedures for improvement.

  • Conduct periodic site visits to support finance initiatives.

  • Prepare workpapers to support quarter-end and year-end requirements.

  • Document and update the Senior Accountant process manual as needed.

  • Effectively communicate with other accountants, supervisors, and managers.

  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement process improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3+ years of public accounting experience or equivalent corporate accounting experience.

  • CPA certification is required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft O365 suite of products, especially Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus.

  • Experience with Sage 300 is preferred.

  • Highly motivated and self-directed with a sense of urgency to complete tasks.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple deliverables.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Construction experience is beneficial but not required.

  • Experience with Blackline is a plus but not required.

Work Environment

The position requires on-site work from Monday to Friday in Glastonbury. The role involves working extra hours during month-end and year-end to meet deadlines. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
