JOB REQUIREMENTS: Summary of role Under the direction of and reporting to the Sr. Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Sr. Safety Manager is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of company occupational health and safety initiatives and to help provide a safe workplace for employees. Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to occupational safety and health concerns including physical, chemical and/or biological hazards, process safety, workers compensation, incident investigations, safety training, , safety inspections, investigations for incident reports, ensuring workplace conditions comply with global occupational health and safety standards. The Sr. Manager interacts with vendors and peers in all departments of the company. In addition the Sr. Manager assists with selection, development, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. The position requires superior leadership behaviours of the Sterling core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile. Your Responsibilities * Develops, implements and sustains comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety compliance programs. * Drives a culture of Safety First through engagement with all levels at the site and the broader Sterling Organization. * Ensure company compliance with all applicable Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations regarding employee safety and train employees accordingly. * Responsible for the injury management program including incident investigation, corrective action implementation, restricted duty coordination, physical requirement criteria and return-to-work implementation. * Maintain appropriate health and safety metrics, perform trend analysis and act on key findings. * Audit workplace environments, equipment, and practices/procedures. Conduct inspections in order to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and government regulations and implement necessary improvements. * Research, develop, and maintain all required written health and safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. * Manage Job Hazard Analysis and Lock Out/Tag Out programs that identify threats and recommend measures to protect workers from hazardous work methods, processes and materials. * Demonstrate and train all employees on proper usage of safety equipment, ergonomics equipment, powered industrial trucks and machine specific safety devices, while enforcing its use. * Manage relationships with local authorities and outside vendors ensuring the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, medical monitoring, first aid supplies and routine inspections. * Be an active member of the Safety Steering team, contribute improvement ideas and assist with implementation accordingly. * Oversee the Safety CARE Team. * Maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety regulations, assess if they apply to the facility and implement changes if necessary. * Assists EHS team with European, United States, and local regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the EPA, WDNR and OSHA. Requirements for the Role * Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related degree and/or equivalent experience required. * Minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment. * Excellent understanding of the theoretical background/fundamentals of the work.
