About you and this role:

Dowhas an exciting opportunity for aSenior Process Automation Specialistlocated inFort Saskatchewan (AB, CAN).

This role will align to the Support and Sustain discipline team for Alberta Operations (AB Ops). Supporting the consistent implementation of Dow Process Automation Technology in both hardware design and software development.

The AB Ops S&S Team currently install, maintain, and support legacy systems such as MOD, Delta V as well as new ABB systems and process automation conversion projects. The successful candidate will provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. Has overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating systems software, networking systems and system software. Provides subject matter guidance when needed. Understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within their discipline. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and willingness to challenge and broaden capabilities as opportunities present.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish support strategies for process automation systems used within Dow. Key strategic deliverables include best practices for preventative maintenance and spare parts management, guidance for obsolescence risk mitigation, asset tracking, and a structure for delivering break-fix support services.

  • Coordinate and support Break-fix activities initiated by the Plant Process Control Coordinator (PPCC)

  • Provide care and troubleshooting of the process automation systems, and their associated networks and interfaces.

  • Provide corrective support in response to a system error condition or failure as the first point of escalation from the plant.

  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems.

  • Participate in software and hardware upgrades.

  • Understands and follows all identified Dow Process Automation work processes, such as Problem Resolution and Request Management, S&OP Case entry, Engineering and Maintenance Asset database updates.

  • Complete small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development.

  • Track and redeploys assets.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources.

  • Interface with others in the Plant who support process control on troubleshooting and upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.

  • 5+ years experience in industry is required.

  • Ability to (or currently is) registered with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng.

  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
