Description

As a Tradesworker Senior, you’ll play a crucial role in performing complex electrical installations and repairs based on work orders. Your focus will be on maintaining and repairing electrical equipment in county-owned facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Procuring new or repaired parts from vendors as required.

  • Maintain and repair all electrical equipment in county-owned facilities.

  • Maintains truck inventory.

  • Replace and perform new system installations.

  • Prepares service estimates for customers.

  • Prepares and submits all corresponding paperwork daily.

  • Operates bucket truck.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Education and Experience:

  • The job requires a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to high school graduation or a GED.

  • Additionally, candidates should have two years of electrical experience or closely related experience.

Driver’s License:

  • Valid Florida Class “B” Commercial Learner’s Permit with airbrakes (required for employment).

  • Obtain a Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with airbrakes within four months of hire.

Safety-Sensitive Position:

  • This role is safety-sensitive, meaning it is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulations (49 CFR-Parts 40 and/or 382).

Background Checks:

  • Candidates will undergo a fingerprint-based NCIC background check.

  • They must obtain security clearance from both the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the State’s Attorney Office.

  • Additionally, the standard Consumer Report-based background check is required for all conditional offers of employment.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Four years of experience as a commercial or service electrician.

  • Florida Journeyperson License in Electrical.

Qualified candidates start at $26.00 per hour plus 5% with a Florida Journeyman license

Supplemental Information

  • Knowledge of electrical standards and methods.

  • Ability to use standard electrical tools.

  • Familiarity with adhering to all electrical codes, rules, and regulations.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and sketches.

  • Comfortable climbing ladders and scaffolding.

  • Willingness to dig and crawl in tight spaces.

  • Ability to reach, stoop, squat, and work outdoors in extreme temperatures.

  • Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds.

Work Schedule:

  • Workdays: Tuesday through Friday.

  • Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

  • Additional flexibility is required for on-call shifts, overtime, and varying hours as needed.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency as needed, unless excused by management. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
