Job Title: Technical Writer

Job Description

Our goal is to fill a temporary role for a

technical writer ( 3-6 months ) but hopefully identify applicants that

would also be good candidates for a permanent hire further down the road .

Technical Writer:

  • Someone with 3-5 years of technical writing experience

  • Experience with Windows Server, Networking hardware and software

  • Experience with Life Cycle management and managing product End of Life processes

  • Experience delivering documentation to both internal stakeholders and government agencies

  • Experience with aviation equipment a plus

  • Experience with Scrum and Agile software tools like Jira and Confluence

  • This will be a hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 WFH)

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Perform technical customer support by managing and solving customer issues and questions in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Interact with customers through Vaisala’s technical support software logging all advanced technical customer support interactions in ticket system for building knowledge base and quality reporting system.

  • Troubleshoot and investigate issues to determine if it is electronic, hardware, or software.

  • Closely collaborate with the FAA RVR Program Manager to receive and execute all necessary activities to provide highest levels of customer satisfaction and Vaisala profitability.

  • Collaborate with the Engineering department to determine the engineering changes needed in hardware and software to continue to meet the end-user requirements and prioritize necessary engineering changes to maintain highest quality with lowest lifecycle cost.

  • Collaborate with relevant Product and Application Management teams to maintain system component compatibility with FAA requirements and Vaisala roadmap product development and sustainment processes.

  • Engage with the customer and internal stakeholders to formalize documentation including customer/product/test documentation.

  • Provide customer support with delivery project or field service activities including travel as needed. Delivery Project activities may include:

  • Factory Inspection Tests

  • System Installation Support

  • Reactive (on-demand) service events per customer request

  • Provide third line expert Technical Support including advanced trouble-shooting assisting frontline and second line technical support specialists

  • Provide Technical Sales Support as a product-application expert

  • Customer requested meetings at either Vaisala or customer site

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years related experience in electronics or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Hands-on experience with electronics and telecommunications systems, including analog and digital communication protocols such as RS232/485 and TCP/IP.

  • Proficiency with applications and software, including Windows Server operating system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Understanding of software architecture and ability write simple scripts is preferred.

  • Technical documentation skills, including the ability to read and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and circuit diagrams in support of customer manuals

  • Proven customer relationship management skills and experience including working with government customers

  • Willingness and ability to work independently with focused direction from the Program Team while adding value and contributing to overall team performance

    Effective interpersonal skills

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Louisville, Colorado and some days remote.
