Consumers Energy Gas Pipeline Utilities Sr Mechanical Engineer in FLINT, Michigan

Location:
This position may be assigned onsite to Lansing Service Center located in Lansing, MI, Saginaw Service Center located in Saginaw, MI, Parnall Office located in Jackson, MI, Kalamazoo Service Center located in Kalamazoo, MI, Flint Service Center located in Flint, MI or Livonia Service Center located in Livonia, MI. The selected candidate must be located within a commutable distance of the location OR willing to relocate (relocation package available to those who qualify).
We are looking for: Senior Pipeline Utilities Mechanical Engineer
The Senior Mechanical Engineer assists in the development, design and testing of new products or systems. They work with a team of other engineers, scientist, and technicians on moderately complex projects to ensure that their projects meet all relevant safety standards and specifications. They test mechanical and electromechanical products and systems and are responsible for the mechanical testing and maintenance of products in production, as well as testing prototypes.

Written and verbal communication skills

Strong understanding of GD&T principles
Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with four (4) or more years of pipeline utility engineering work experience
[OR] Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited program with a Professional Engineering license with four (4) or more years of pipeline utility engineering work experience
Understanding of 49 CFR Part 192, the Michigan Gas Safety Standards and ASME B31.8 is preferred
Valid Driver’s License is required
In this role, you will :
Design, control, and implement mechanical systems and productsand serve as the primary point of contact with clients for all mechanical engineering project matters
Manage the development and implementation of mechanical systems
Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes
Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment
Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects and monitor project progress and budget, and prepare reports for upper management
Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing mechanical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps and investigate and resolve project issues in a timely manner
Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations
Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities
Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies
Provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed
Preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation
Oversee and manage the installation of mechanical equipment and components
Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary
