Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grain and Processing division. We are looking for a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Specialist for our Sunflower locations. The role will be responsible for the facilities located in both Fargo & Grandin, ND . The primary focus will be to provide safe work environments, ensure safe work practices, complete EHS training for all on-site personnel, and to promote a strong safety culture. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local and company).

  • Assist divisional EH&S personnel in the development and implementation of EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Be an advocate for the CHS value of Safety through the advancement of a strong safety culture.

  • Conduct EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.

  • Provide first aid for minor injuries and coordinate prompt medical attention for more serious injuries.

  • Conduct incident investigations, manage worker's compensation process, and return to work program.

  • Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to other departments and personnel to ensure compliance and a safe work environment.

  • Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Keep current on applicable EH&S related rules and regulations.

  • Successfully manage and complete all EH&S related work assignments and duties.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred in Occupational Safety, Environmental, Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or related field.

  • Certified Safety Professional or other safety certification

  • Experience providing EH&S training.

  • North Dakota Pesticide Certification 

  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite

  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment is needed to inspect facilities

  • Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
