Compensation: up to $70,000 annually plus a potential Department Quality Incentive Bonus of $9,500 annually.

    Job Summary: The Arc Mercer is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Janitorial Services to support and oversee the operations of our commercial cleaning division, which employs over 100 individuals with special needs. This role will work closely with the Program Director to develop and implement strategic initiatives, manage daily operations, and ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and budgetary guidelines. Must be available during core operational hours (6 AM - 10 PM) to address urgent needs.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing long-term strategies for the growth and enhancement of janitorial services.

  • Oversee all operational aspects of the department while ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals.

  • Identify opportunities to expand services, enhance client satisfaction, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate department staff, including managers, site supervisors, and individuals with special needs.

  • Develop and enhance training programs to support career advancement and skill development.

  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalated issues, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Oversee contract cleaning schedules and ensure seamless service delivery.

  • Establish and enforce best practices and standardized cleaning procedures.

  • Support staff by filling in during training, project work, absences, or vacancies as needed.

  • Assist in budgeting, financial planning, and cost control for commercial cleaning and project services.

  • Approve procurement of supplies and maintain inventory control.

  • Manage documentation for payroll, billing, compliance reports, and other administrative tasks.

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OSHA standards.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate quality assurance reports.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to improve workplace safety and reduce incidents.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Extensive relevant experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.

  • 5-7 years of experience in janitorial services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA compliance.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and overseeing initiatives.

  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities highly preferred.

  • Valid driver's license with no more than 3 suspensions and/or points in the past 3 years.
