Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Staff Accountant to join a great local non profit committed to helping Lane County. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining various aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as completing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. This role performs bank and balance sheet reconciliations, calculates and enters accrual entries, and maintains schedules for balance sheet accounts such as debt, capital assets, and prepaids. Additionally, the Staff Accountant supports the preparation of annual audit reconciliations, coordinates cash control procedures, and provides administrative and analytical support to the finance team. Essential Functions: - Prepare and maintain aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, and complete financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. - Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations. - Calculate and enter accrual entries. - Track balance sheet accounts and maintain schedules for debt, capital assets, prepaids, and other related accounts. - Post general journal entries as directed from financial transactions. - Conduct routine data entry management for accounting records, including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and contracting. - Review billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy, and alert supervisory staff of any discrepancies. - Organize and maintain various file systems. - Assist in the preparation of annual audit reconciliations of general ledger accounts and serve as backup for third-party CPA audits. - Provide administrative and analytical support to the finance team as well as internal stakeholders. - Coordinate cash control procedures across departments, including donations and fundraising activities. - Assist payroll by overseeing staff retirement accounts and managing internal staff accounts. - Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Requirements and Education: - Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or seven (7) years of direct work experience in finance or accounting. - Minimum two (2) years of direct working experience in an accounting or finance role. - Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). - Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., EHR, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial work. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Effective communication skills, both written and verba
