Department Summary

Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is a vibrant unit within the Finance and Administration portfolio. CPFM is comprised of five departments, and approximately 270 employees: Facilities Services, Utilities & Energy, Campus Planning, Office of Sustainability, and Design & Construction. CPFM is responsible for planning, building, maintaining, and operating the infrastructure that supports the University. Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide the technical skills necessary to facilitate successful mechanical system preventive maintenance, repair, or remodel tasks as part of Facilities Services role in providing the campus community with a quality physical environment in which to work and study.

Interactions/contacts occur daily with the campus community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies.

Position works as a member of a team. Position will work independently or collaboratively depending on needs identified by supervisor or lead worker. The incumbent makes decisions on work priorities, scheduling, necessary material and equipment, the means of accomplishing duties, and personal and public safety. These decisions affect work productivity and protection of the aesthetic quality and monetary investment of the campus buildings.

Work is reviewed directly by the Mechanical Shop supervisor and/or lead worker to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.

Shift time may vary within a Monday thru Friday daytime schedule, typically between 7am and 5pm.

Driving Requirement:

It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.

On Call Rotation:

This position will be required to participate in an on call rotation. Being on call requires the participant to live in an area with cell phone reception or to be within cell phone reception for the entire duration of the on call period. On call also requires the participant to be within a 1 hour drive of the UO campus for the entire duration of the on call period to be able to respond to issues if needed. On call periods are typically 1-4 weeks in duration.

Essential Personnel:

This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.

Minimum Requirements

• Four years of experience maintaining, repairing, and fabricating parts for machinery, tools, and equipment such as automobiles, trucks, hydraulic systems, lift trucks, etc.; OR

• Completion of an approved Mechanical Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.
