Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to)

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.

  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.

  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws

  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.

  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)

  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.

  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.

  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.

  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed

  • Is responsible for assisting the Department Managers in the implementation of Quality Initiatives and process control methods on his or her respective shift.

  • Reporting to the Production Manager, this individual is accountable for the operation of a 12 hour shift including scheduling of personnel on shift, setting shift priorities in conjunction with Safety, Quality, Scheduler, Maintenance, and Material Usage, etc.

  • Follow up on repairs, improvement, processing problems, facility items, etc.

  • Responsible for recording all attendance records.

  • Communication and feedback in all areas of the operation;

  • Safety, OSHA, and environmental

  • The quality of the product

  • The quality of work performed on shift

  • All related and / or assigned responsibilities

  • Furnishes production reports, summaries, and other paperwork as required, using designated software programs. Including but not limited to JDE, WEBEFF, Excel, Word, and Access.

  • Works in cooperation with the other departments, and may from time to time assume their duties during vacations, absences, etc.

  • Actively Lead and Support Lean Manufacturing Principles

  • Support the development, implementation, review, management and maintenance of the plant's Food Packaging Safety Program, including the SQF System.

  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.

  • Report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System.

  • Cover in the absence of key personnel to maintain the integrity of the SQF System and Food Safety in the plant.

Authorities: (Included but are not limited to)

  1. Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any nonconformity’s of product or quality systems.

  2. Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system.

  3. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

  4. Verify the implementation of solutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency

  • Read, write and speak English

  • Past experience / proven ability

  • Basic working knowledge of Excel and Word Software

  • Basic Mechanical/ Electrical Knowledge

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Management, Supervisory development.

  • Training Course: Supervisory Skills

  • Experience in lieu of education will be considered. Previousresponsibilities such as supervisor or a lead person, which consisted of supervisory responsibilities.
