The Mental Health Worker functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for implementing rehabilitation and support interventions as outlined in the treatment plan for clients enrolled in the LTSR program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, case management, medication monitoring, assistance with the activities of daily living (ADL), crisis intervention, individual and group psychosocial education and supportive counseling, and consultation with families. The incumbent is expected to provide recovery-oriented interventions according to each client's individual treatment plan and maintain professional relationships with other providers, both internal and external to the program. The Mental Health Worker, along with every member of the LTSR team, must adhere to the DPW regulations and the policies and procedures established by the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Completion of 12 semester hours of college training in a mental health related field; or a high school diploma or equivalency and 6 months of formal training in mental health or a related field; and 2 years' experience in direct care of clients with a mental health diagnosis.
  2. Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal, organizational skills & the ability to effectively work with a team of other mental health professionals.
  3. Strong clinical skills with working knowledge of the mental health system, psychiatric rehabilitation principles and recovery-oriented practices.
  4. Ability to effectively work with persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance abuse disorders and forensic issues and encourage their participation with comprehensive treatment plans.
  5. Act 33/34/31 and FBI Clearances
  6. Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle during scheduled work hours.

Coverage needed: 2nd shift and Weekends
