The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Military & Family Readiness Center (MFRC) Chief to plan, implement, administer, and counsel on the MFRC's career, transition, relocation, and family/work life services and activities provided to military members, retirees, DoD civilian members, and their families, through utilization of the Discovery Resource Center. Responsibilities Serves as organizations Discovery Resource Center (DRC) manager. Provides administrative, technical, and customer service support to DRC and organization. Provides oversight for maintenance, updates, and usage for computers, office equipment, and the internet. Performs administrative and clerical duties. Identifies issues that need the attention of the supervisor, or refers to the appropriate staff, routes to other organizations/offices, or handles personally. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes assisting with the planning and implementation of programs designed to provide direct support to quality of life programs such as career, transition, relocation, and family/work life services & activities provided to military members, retirees, DoD civilians and their families; providing administrative and technical assistance in support of Military & Family Readiness Center programs; providing oversight for maintenance, updates and usage for computers and office equipment, and the ability to properly establish and promote offered programs, maintain records and provide referral service and assistance to military, civilian members, and employees and their dependents; utilize various office automation software programs, systems, tools and techniques. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the principles and practices of a social service delivery system. 2. Skill and ability to tactfully and professionally conduct client assessments and to develop alternative solutions to a variety of problems. 3. Ability to collect, classify, update, design and disseminate information and other data using a variety of resources and media. 4. Skill in working with public and private agencies providing a variety of social service assistance and in gaining knowledge of individual agencies policies and procedures. 5. Skill in use of computer hardware, software, databases, websites, connectivity, and programs; able to troubleshoot and resolve problems. 6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
