Job Title: Technician

Job Description

Maintains, services, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, and calibrates plant electrical and mechanical equipment and systems. Works under the general direction and supervision of the Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, or Plant Manager. Utilizes various tools and equipment available in the Maintenance Shop, as well as meters, scopes, CRT Test Equipment, computers, PLC hardware, and software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain work assignments and maintenance schedules from the Maintenance Manager.

  • Regularly inspect and record the condition of all electrical equipment including motors, generators, control panels, systems, switches, lighting, circuits, and circuit breakers.

  • Clean, maintain, adjust, and lubricate equipment, taking all safety precautions.

  • Use electrical test equipment, drawings, electrical blueprints, wiring, and PLC schematic diagrams to install new equipment and diagnose problems with inoperative equipment.

  • Modify and improve existing equipment and determine methods to minimize interruption of production.

  • Perform temporary or permanent repairs, correct defective circuits by determining the cause of failure and replacing circuit components.

  • Repair motors, cranes, generators, and other equipment; perform mechanical repairs as required.

  • Stop, start, and adjust industrial oven gas and air.

  • Monitor, inspect, and calibrate computer relay systems, analyze and make repairs on the same.

  • Train and assist in the development of Electricians in PLC and Electromechanical Systems.

Essential Skills

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with solid state control systems.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with PLC’s and HMI programming.

  • Knowledge of test equipment used for troubleshooting systems.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics, PLC programs, and act on them.

  • Thorough knowledge of AC/DC equipment, motors, generators, control panels, switches, lighting circuit breakers, and relay systems, variable speed drives, and programmable controllers.

  • Experience with PLC networking with Automax (Reliance) system, Processors using RSLogix 500 and 5000 software.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and/or rewrite ladder logic programs within processors using RSLogix software.

  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, repair, or replace portions of, or entirety of, specialized electromechanical systems in hydro, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment.

  • Familiarity with all applicable codes and proper installation methods.

Work Environment

Heavy industrial environment with four main large pieces of equipment. Regularly performing changeovers to meet customer demands, with repairs needed during these transitions. Work shifts include a rotating monthly schedule: 6 days (72 hours) in the first and second weeks, 4 days (48 hours) in the third week, and 6 days (72 hours) in the fourth week.

This is a Permanent position based out of Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $83158.40 - $83158.40/yr.

Medical is through BCBS. We offer a discount on premiums if employee participates in a health screening. There are 2 plans to choose from. These are high deductible plans; however, the company gives up to $2K a year towards this deductible.

Dental is through Delta Dental of IL

Vision is through VSP.

Life insurance is paid by the company for employee, spouse, and kids.

401K is matched at 50% up to the first 6%

STD and LTD are paid by the company.
