Qualifications: (Required Experience, Education, Skills and Certifications)

5 years of Construction Industry safety experience managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls.

Maintained experience through having taken training courses of documented formal or on-line safety and health related coursework in the past three years. The training must be applicable to the work being performed on the project.

SSHO shall be able to demonstrate training in the following areas: Personal protective equipment and clothing to include selection, use and maintenance, hazard communication, excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, and confined space.

OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification (within past 5 years)

USACE Quality Control Management Certificate

EM 385-1 on construction contracts relevant to IDIQ multiyear contracts.

Current First Aid/CPR Training

High School Diploma

Must be able to pass security clearance for base access.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Demonstrate a professional demeanor.

Valid drivers license with good motor vehicle record.

U.S. Citizen or Authorized to work in the USA

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting a safe working environment on construction sites by implementing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of risk management, occupational health, and safety standards to protect our workforce and minimize hazards.

Duties

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on construction sites to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and report any violations or unsafe practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into construction management processes.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and assist in the investigation of incidents or accidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident reports.
  • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations, NEC standards, and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Work in a Team Environment
  • Coordinate and participate in daily/weekly safety meetings and formal worksite inspections
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures consistently
  • Monitor worksites frequently throughout the day to ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance programs
  • Assist in jobsite incident/accident/injury investigations
  • Coordinate with local emergency and first responders as necessary
  • Conduct daily safety walks to identify deficiencies and make corrections
  • Work with procurement group to facilitate the delivery and maintain an inventory of all safety and testing equipment on site,
  • Manage the safety orientation program,
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with Site Security on accountability, access and safety,
  • Manage all safety documentation, daily tailboards, qualifications, forms and permits,
  • Oversee the lift planning and execution of all equipment operations,
  • Organized and familiar with project plans and schedules.
  • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations, NEC standards, and industry trends to ensure ongoing complian e.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles, occupational health standards, and EHS regulations.
  • Familiarity with construction management software is preferred.
  • Certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate staff on safety practices effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
