Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the District Manager (DM) is responsible for overseeing multiple units or portfolios for a specific region to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and execute the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership Team. District Managers foster long term relationships by delivering operational excellence to meet client and customer needs. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment. The DM also provides direction and expertise to the region by promoting corporate strategies and best practices aligned with our Vision and Values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This role holds expansive responsibilities for the performance of multiple contracts across their district. The key areas they are responsible for include:

  • Full P&L and financial responsibility for the sites and locations in their district

  • Total Revenue equivalent to +/- $25 Million and multiple accounts

  • Promote the company values and be a leader in health and safety

  • Client relationships, engagement, Net Promotor scores, contract extensions

  • People management of all operations resources and support functions within their region

  • Training and professional development of core operational staff at the site level

  • Successful interactions with support functions to ensure their region is compliant with corporate vision and priorities

  • Mentor and train all direct reports; direct conduit to site level leaders

  • Plans, oversees and operationalizes the business plan in the region

  • Develops plans and budgets to meet financial targets; accountable for key financial and performance measures including cost control, EBITDA and customer ratings scores

  • With support of the Regional Operations Director, facilitates, manages, and builds client relationships

  • Manage multiple field leadership team to ensure compliance with proper procedures and guidelines

  • Strengthen operational processes to build highly efficient and effective operations

  • Liaise with Regional Operations Director and other DM’s and ensure the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives to all field operation groups

  • Provide leadership of the field operations team ensuring effective performance management and continued development

  • Support the implementation of operational improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, finance, and employee performance

  • Communicate and share company standards and available resources that assist facility operations

  • Identify gaps and opportunities and determine root causes in operating standards and overall guest satisfaction

  • Coordinate with other department leaders to find solutions to problems

  • Establish clear business goals and financial targets with the Manager of each location

  • Identify opportunities and best practices to improve profitability of locations

  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and WHMIS within all regions

  • Assist in effectively and efficiently managing the development of the Hospitality Operations team to promote high quality customer service and satisfaction

  • Other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and think outside the box

  • Minimum of 5 years of Operations/Business Development experience

  • Post-Secondary Education in Management or Business-related degree is considered an asset

  • Familiar with current industry technology

  • Demonstrated market awareness, branding, innovation to create competitive advantage

  • Demonstrated ability to attracts, develop, and retain employees

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated financial management skills

  • Experience in multi-unit management, hospitality industry or hotel industry considered an asset

  • Strong ability to create documentation, spreadsheets, and templates for reporting and introduction of process

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, highly challenging and change oriented environment

  • Superior critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills

  • Leadership and strong people management skills

  • Results orientation/operational excellence

  • Holding self and others accountable

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office environment and telecommuting with a flexible work schedule, potentially requiring additional working hours as needed, to ensure business needs are continually met

  • Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols

  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet business needs – between to 25-40% should be expected with a minimum of 33% or +/- 10 days in the field
