This role involves close collaboration with students, faculty, and campus resources to promote student success.Job Duties:Responsible for providing comprehensive academic advising services to new, transfer, and first-semester students. This includes supporting students in exploring and refining their academic and career objectives through personalized guidance and resources, while also identifying and providing referrals to address non-academic barriers to promote student success.Assist in onboarding transfer students by understanding their goals, reviewing available resources, and aiding in course selection to facilitate their integration into the college community. Identify, resolve, or escalate, missing or conflicting information to support student success and improve existing processes.Address academic inquiries, including complex requests, consistent with policies, and serve as a resource for returning stop-out students, furnishing detailed information regarding educational opportunities and requirements to enhance retention efforts.Identify opportunities and influence short-term goals to increase enrollment, credentials earned, transfer to university, and internal and external partnerships in collaboration with the Director.Engage in professional development activities to enhance related professional skills.Actively contribute to the development and implementation of college training opportunities, resource development, and workshops related to academic advising, transfer, and credit for prior learning, as designated by the Director.Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy in student record-keeping, adhering to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), while developing personalized advising plans tailored to individual student needs in physical and digital formats.Demonstrate autonomy in the absence of the Director, effectively managing daily office managerial tasks as required and handling requests that require escalation due to complexity.Serve as a liaison for the Academic Dean and Faculty as designated by the Director.Engage colleagues to implement activities of academic advising, transfer, and credit for prior learning, as designated by the Director.Cultivate collaborative relationships with faculty, student support programs, and college offices through clear and efficient communication.Exhibit professional behavior with diverse populations and provide exceptional customer service, aiding students in problem resolution and demonstrating sound judgment under pressure.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education, Counseling, or any related field.1 to 2 years of relevant experienceMust be able to work independently.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word). Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with academic policies and proceduresFamiliarity with online advising platforms and virtual advising techniques.Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
