What You Will Do

Electrical Subsystems engineers architect, design, and develop game-changing control systems that implement the subsystems and hardware necessary to achieve customer and business value as defined by our products’ engine performance, fuel consumption, operability, noise, emissions, and time on wing; and provide unmatched customer support, all in an environmentally responsible manner.

Electrical Subsystems engineers work across all CDS subdisciplines to help achieve program objectives of the CDS CIPT.

Electrical Subsystems engineers apply skills from across a wide range of PW Engineering disciplines such as Performance, Operability, Mechanical Disciplines, Aerothermal Management, to name a few, to develop, integrate and certify subsystems and hardware for Civil and Military customers. Electrical Subsystems engineering work the entire system life cycle from 1) control system technology development, 2) interpreting customer requirements, decomposing them to hardware and software, 3) technical and project oversight of hardware implementation, to 4) ensuring control system compliance across engine, flight and customer compliance testing, and finally, 5) leading system and hardware field issue triage and resolution.

The Electrical Subsystems Senior Principal Engineer, Team Lead is expected to:

  • Lead a team of Engineers working on Electrical, Electronics and Sensors system and component development

  • Be the point of contact for one program's Electrical, Electronics and Sensors Hardware Subsystems team, addressing internal and external customer's requests

  • Provide technical expertise and provide guidance on complex technical challenges

  • Decompose engine system requirements into control system hardware and software requirements

  • Perform analysis for functional requirement decomposition and requirement validation

  • Provide supplier oversight

  • Promote the development of transient models of sensors, electronic and electrical parts

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to less experienced engineers

  • Communicate project status and risks to the Engineering Leadership

  • Lead successful execution of major Design Reviews

  • Take on leadership roles in an Agile framework, such as Product Owner

  • Lead the development and implementation of new Engineering Standard Work (ESW)

  • Identify Lessons Learned from the organization past experience and updated ESW accordingly

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • 10 years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree and 7 with an advanced degree

  • U.S. person (U.S. citizen or Green Card holder) status is required, due to government program

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Systems engineering

Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.

What is my role type?

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
