Maintenance Supervisor , Ear Falls , Ontario

When you join our team as a Maintenance Supervisor, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance team of millwrights, electricians, heavy duty mechanics, saw filers, energy operators and more. You will be responsible for health and safety, the overall maintenance of the plant, scheduling, and working with the production team to ensure the uptime of the mill.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise maintenance employees, subcontractors, & contract staff.

  • Assist with organizing and scheduling of routine preventive maintenance for the equipment.

  • Management of continuous improvement initiatives and participate in the problem-solving process.

  • Support and implement the values of the company.

  • Ensure Maintenance department personnel are up to date on all company and legal policies, procedures and training.

  • Stimulate and maintain a positive work environment within the department.

  • Analyze and identify root cause of equipment failures and initiate corrective action to prevent re occurrence.

  • Ensure budget targets are met.

  • Promote continuous improvement throughout the plant.

What You Offer

  • A completed program, University or College level in mechanical OR electrical engineering and/or possess a red seal certification in a maintenance mechanical field is an important asset.

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in a sawmill or manufacturing plant.

  • Proven experience in supervising in an unionized environment.

  • Knowledgeable of the occupational health and safety act.

  • Knowledge in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP, EAM, etc.) considered an asset.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, strong work ethic and good judgment to develop a successful maintenance team.

  • Good organizational, decision making and result oriented focus.
