Description

Our client is seeking a Cash Application Lead to join their dynamic team on a long-term contract basis. This is a hybrid role, combining on-site collaboration with remote flexibility. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SAP systems and a proven ability to lead cash application processes effectively. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a fast-paced company while embracing a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Oversight: Manage a team of cash application specialists, ensuring accurate and timely application of payments to customer accounts. Monitor team performance and provide coaching where needed.

  • SAP Operations: Utilize SAP in cash application functions, including uploading, reconciling, and resolving payment discrepancies. Maintain system accuracy and ensure compliance with company policies.

  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in cash application workflows and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and productivity. Recommend and drive automation opportunities within SAP to streamline processes.

  • Dispute Resolution: Assist in investigating and resolving payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, and customer queries, collaborating with AR (Accounts Receivable), collections teams, or other stakeholders as necessary.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting on cash application metrics, trends, and process improvements. Support the month-end close process by reconciling payment receipts and outstanding balances.

  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional departments, such as Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and Customer Service, to support operational goals and maintain strong customer relationships.

  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting principles, and company policies related to cash application activities

Requirements

Qualifications

  • SAP Expertise: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cash application functions within SAP systems is required.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in cash application/AR roles, with leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced skills preferred) and familiar with other ERP or CRM systems.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment.

  • Process Improvement Focus: Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to drive efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in working within large, multinational corporations.

  • Familiarity with payment processing tools or treasury systems.

  • Knowledge of other ERP platforms aside from SAP.
