Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Accounting and Finance Co-Op in Durant, Oklahoma

Job Summary: The Accounting Co-op role offers students, currently pursuing an Accounting or Finance degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State College, the opportunity to supplement coursework with meaningful, practical experience. Assignments may focus in, but not limited to, one of the following areas: General Accounting, Finance, Purchasing, Budget Forecast and Management, Cash Management, Payroll Processing, Fixed Assets Management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The goal is to provide you with a path for your development and growth in your accounting or finance career.

Primary Tasks

  1. Contributing to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s Accounting, Finance, and/or business objectives by completing specific work assignments dependent on the intern’s best career and coursework fit and internal client’s needs.

  2. Participating in various accounting or related responsibilities with supervision, which could include basic-level accounting duties aligned with the individual’s college study.

  3. Acting in a trained and mentored role to gain hands on, operational knowledge of assigned Accounting responsibilities; perform basic accounting responsibilities, assignments and/or tasks including comprehension of typical functions within the accounting organization, shadowing experienced Accounting Staff Associates, technical webinars, internal projects, etc.

  4. Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

MINIMUM

  • Active student with major in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related undergraduate degree program with career aspirations in Accounting or Finance.

  • In process of completing first semester of Sophomore-level up to second semester Senior-level standing in degree requirements.

  • Must be currently attending Southeastern Oklahoma State College.

  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week during the semester.

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5; 3.0 GPA or greater preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written on a technical level.

  • Ability to lift 20lb or more

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
