Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to Mug's Cafe, inside of the Landings Club, on Dover Air Force Base. As a FLEX employee, you may work anywhere between 0-40 hours per week, on an as needed basis. Responsibilities The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation, food service areas, and cashier. Prepares beverage and food items such as espresso drinks, coffee, blended drinks, cappuccinos, brewed coffee, lattes, hot chocolate etc. Also serve limited cold beverages and food items. Serves food in a café/snack bar style. Sells pitchers of beer when bartender is not on duty. Sets up and operates espresso machine, coffee machine, tea machine and blender. Cleans machines used in the preparation of beverage and food items on a daily basis and performs simple maintenance as needed. Sells posted menu items, daily specials, and a variety of prepared food items, such as muffins, cheesecakes, pastries, scones and drinks. Operates cash register, rings up sale, receives payment (cash, credit card, gift certificate, coupons) and tenders change. At the end of each shift, clears register and turns over the receipts and supporting documents along with money to supervisor. May prepare cashier's report and make deposits. Maintains facility in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans interior and exterior of facility daily. Spot cleans area and equipment as needed during operating hours. At the end of the day, cleans area and breaks down and cleans equipment. Removes all pans at closing; washes, rinses and sanitizes. Cleans tabletops, chairs, and counters as needed throughout the shift. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal areas. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleanings as scheduled. Receives and inspects orders, brings discrepancies to supervisor's attention. Stores food IAW standard procedures. May perform or assist with inventories and ordering. Restocks racks and coolers with beverage and food items. Ensure all thaw and serve products are removed from freezer in a timely fashion to ensure items are ready to serve before and during open hours. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and beverage, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Experience in the operation of a cash register, direct handling of cash items, and cash accountability is desired. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Must successfully complete a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI). Must be 21 or older. Education This position does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
