COTS Family Stability Partner in Detroit, Michigan

Under general supervision, the Family Stability Partner will assist shelter guests by assuring all serviceable needs are met and that all shelter guests adhere to shelter policies and procedures.

This includes:

  • Read logbooks daily and initial.
  • Complete rounds and write reports or log entries outlining observations and activities during assigned shift.
  • Assist with distribution of linen and supplies.
  • Distribute and log medication.
  • Screen all incoming packages for prohibited contraband.
  • Monitor guests utilizing the Clothing Room
  • Distribution of hygiene and cleaning supplies
  • Ensure guests clean living spaces and maintain proper levels of clothing.
  • Continually interact with shelter guests to know and understand their concerns and needs.
  • Update Case Planners and Supervision of any extraordinary issues or concerns in writing.
  • Pack, store, and discard property of former guests
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork by the end of your shift daily
  • Responsible for obtaining signatures of shelter guests on Food/Shelter Log Sheet daily.
  • Assist and escort shelter guests who are leaving the Emergency Shelter
  • Monitor activity and assist in the cafeteria during mealtimes and various scheduled onsite meetings.

     

Work experience and/or educational requirements:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Three (3) years' experience in human services field or direct care preferred.
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug test.
  • Computer and basic software skills (MS Office, email)
