DMC Primary Care Derry Imaging - Echo Sonographer in Derry, New Hampshire

Derry Imaging Center  seeks an experienced Echo Sonographer to join our cardiology team. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and a team-based, collaborative mindset. Strong customer service skills are required.

Our ideal candidate is a skilled and experienced Echo Sonographer who is familiar with ICAEL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories) standards. The Echo Sonographer will perform a variety of echocardiographic procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging and exceptional patient care in compliance with ICAEL standards.

This is a full-time position that will float between our Bedford and Derry, NH locations. Hours are primarily Monday – Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Part-time positions may be considered for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Echocardiography Imaging:

  • Perform transthoracic and stress echocardiograms.

  • Utilize Doppler and color flow ultrasound to assess cardiac function and structure.

  • Obtain and record clear and accurate images and relevant data for interpretation by the cardiologist.

  • Patient Interaction:

  • Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.

  • Obtain and document relevant patient history before the examination.

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during the procedure.

  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment in accordance with ICAEL standards.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure equipment cleanliness.

  • Perform regular maintenance checks and report any malfunctions.

  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Adhere to ICAEL standards and guidelines to ensure high-quality imaging and maintain lab accreditation.

  • Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and safety standards.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Accurately document exam results and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Prepare preliminary reports for review by the cardiologist.

  • Maintain accurate records for ICAEL accreditation and audits.

  • Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to case discussions.

  • Continuing Education:

  • Stay updated with advancements in echocardiography technology and practices.

  • Attend continuing education courses and obtain necessary certifications as required.

    Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.

  • Completion of an accredited echocardiography program.

    Certification:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with ICAEL standards is required.

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience performing echocardiograms.

  • Experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.

    Skills:

  • Proficient in performing a variety of echocardiographic procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficient in the use of EMR systems and echocardiography equipment.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Capability to lift and position patients as necessary.

  • Manual dexterity to operate ultrasound equipment.

    This full-time position offers paid time off, health insurance and 401K at 32+ hours.

    Derry Imaging Center  is American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited in Mammography, Ultrasound, MRI, and CT Imaging, and has onsite fellowship-trained radiologists.
