Description of Job

Our Custodial department supports activities outside of the typical cleaning duties. This position will coordinate pest control needs with our clients and our pest control company as well as clean and organize our custodial warehouse, keep track of inventory, and deliver custodial supplies to the various buildings. This position will also fix and replace various dispensers that are on campus such as hand sanitizer, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towel and feminine sanitary products. This work unit will also clean, sanitize, provide waste, recycling and compost services and snow removal, ice abatement to the Auraria Higher Education Center.

The General Labor I is responsible for the following duties:

Pest Control Coordinating:

  • Sending pest control technician, a weekly list of concerns via email.

  • Meeting with the pest control technician as least once a week.

  • Closing out work orders and creating new ones for preventative maintenance such as reporting holes to facilities that need to be fixed.

  • Picking up dead pests.

  • Walking areas with pest control technician.

  • Training new technicians and showing them the campus.

Organizing Custodial Supply warehouse and Delivery Supplies:

  • Responsible for putting away supplies when they are delivered by truck into warehouse.

  • Make sure the warehouse is accessible, clean and stays organized.

  • Keep inventories for supplies and equipment.

  • Deliver supplies to the various custodial crews at different buildings.

Fixing Dispensers:

  • Fix or replace dispensers such as hand soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet paper, threefold towel, chemical, feminine products, and other dispensers located on campus.

Cleaning of Interior and Exterior of the Auraria Campus:

  • Responsible for sanitizing and cleaning restrooms, offices, conference spaces, furnishings, public lounges and areas, food court, landings, stairwells, elevators and corridors.

Other Duties:

  • In response to emergency flooding, this position is tasked with performing the initial clean-up as a member of the "Emergency Response Team."

  • Removing all snow and ice as necessary from walks and stairs

  • Applying de-icer as needed to keep the entries open and safe

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Once (1) year of full-time Custodial experience in a professional work setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General Computer experience.

  • Valid and unencumbered Driver License.
