SCOPE OF POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor is to manage maintenance in our facilities. They will be responsible for hiring and training staff and ensuring the smooth running of upkeep or repair operations for the facility and equipment.

An excellent maintenance supervisor must be reliable and have a great eye for detail. They must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc. Leadership and knowledge of administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting and contract negotiations related to repair, maintenance, and warranty contracts are also essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for facility repair and maintenance related to

  • Roof, HVAC, Fans, Exhaust, Plumbing, etc.

  • Main contact with vendors for repairs and issues

  • Participate in coordination of projects (renovations, new equipment installs, etc)

  • Apply for facility permits.

  • Liaison between CS and the building management company

  • Review all existing and new shop equipment and related to:

  • Main contact with vendor and equipment support staff for issues

  • Maintain all warranty information.

  • Setup and renew any service agreements.

  • Review recommended spare parts list and maintaining adequate inventory.

  • Develop recommended maintenance plan and schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)

  • Maintain records of all maintenance and repairs

  • Recruit maintenance team, supervise and train:

  • Maintenance technicians (work on shop equipment)

  • Maintenance personal (minor building repairs, move furniture, clean building as needed)

  • Hire and supervise tradesmen during installations of equipment, repairs, or maintenance.

  • Electricians, Plumbers, General Contractors, Riggers, Millwrights, etc.)

  • Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • High school diploma; Degree from a vocational school will be a plus

  • Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role

  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating, HVAC, etc.)

  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations

  • Understanding of budgeting and performance management

  • Excellent planning and leadership abilities

  • An eye for detail

  • Computer savvy

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred
